Warm in January.
Cool in July.

Northwind repairs, maintains and replaces heating and cooling systems for homes and small commercial buildings. We’d rather fix your system than sell you a new one, and we’ll tell you honestly which makes more sense.

Both seasons, one call

Most homes have one system doing two jobs. We service the whole thing, so the technician who fixes your AC in summer already knows your furnace in winter.

Heating

  • Furnace repair (gas and electric)
  • Heat pump service in heating mode
  • Annual safety check with carbon monoxide test
  • Boiler and radiator service
  • Thermostat installs and smart thermostats

Cooling

  • Central AC repair and recharge
  • Heat pump service in cooling mode
  • Coil cleaning and condensate drain clearing
  • Ductless mini-split installs
  • Whole-home dehumidifiers

Thinking about a new system?

We size every replacement with a room-by-room load calculation, not a guess from the old unit’s label. You get two or three options in writing, with the operating cost of each, and financing if you want it.

Signs your system needs a look

Uneven rooms

Some rooms are always too hot or cold. Often a duct, damper or airflow problem rather than the equipment.

Bills creeping up

Same weather, higher bill. A dirty coil or low refrigerant makes the system run longer for the same result.

Short cycling

It turns on and off every few minutes. Hard on the parts and usually a sign of a sizing, sensor or thermostat issue.

New noises or smells

Grinding, banging, or a burning smell that lasts more than the first few minutes of the season. Turn it off and call.

Before you call: check the thermostat is set to the right mode, replace the filter if it’s gray, and make sure the breaker for the outdoor unit hasn’t tripped. That solves more calls than you’d think, and we’d rather save you the visit.

Book service

Tell us about your system and we’ll call to confirm a time, usually within the same business day. No heat or no cooling in extreme weather? Call and we’ll fit you in.
